March 12, 2019: 20th edition of FICCI Frames, the global media and entertainment conclave on Day 1 witnessed a gripping session with eminent names from the media world wherein they discussed various ways and means to deal with the problem of  Fake News, which is the biggest challenge in the new age digital era.


While the session was moderated by Ms. Madhu Trehan, Founder, News Laundary, the panelists included Mr. Govindraj Ethiraj, Founder, BOOM fact check & India Spend, Mr. Pratham Mittal, Founder, Neta App, Mr. Lyric Jain, Chief Executive Officer, Logically , Mr. BV Rao, Editor in Chief, First post  and Ms. Monica Nayyar Patnaik, Managing Director, Sambad Group. The panelists explored the future of fighting the challenge of unauthentic news from solutions driven approach.


“The highest principal in journalism is fairness. For me fairness is a quality above freedom.” said Mr. B V Rao.

“In my opinion, fake news is a result of technology that enables news to be spread in the most exclusive manner possible”. He added

Ms. Monika Nayyer Patnaik said, “Each story has different connotations. It is for the user to decide whether the news is true or not”.


“People latch on to developing events and use that for somekind of objective, mostly for political objective but social and communal as well. This is a game that is playing out very very vividly.” concluded Mr. Govindrag Ethiraj.
