12th edition of National Students Meet 2014 by MAAC concludes successfully

Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) is one of the leaders in 3D Animation and Visual Effects (VFX) training. It successfully concluded the 12th edition of National Student’s Meet (NSM) 2014. For this NSM the scholars come across 80centers in the nation and the event was held from January 20 to January 23, 2014 at Leonia Holistic Resorts Hyderabad. The NSM events are conducted twice a year for MAAC scholars to interact with Industry Experts and their fellow counterparts. The aim of the event is making a platform for MAAC's budding animators and VFX artists to get updated about the latest Industry occurrences and trends in the Animation and VFX industry. NSM is one of the most eagerly awaited events and is conducted twice a year for MAAC students to interact with Industry Experts and their fellow counter-parts. It is aimed towards creating a platform for MAAC's budding animators & VFX artists to get updated about the latest Industry happenings and trends in the Animation & VFX industry. The event included interactive live sessions and workshops in Hyderabad which were conducted by the most experienced and successful experts. The scholars worked on live projects, visited animation studios and enjoy a trip to Ramoji Film City.
The NSM event is a four day event more than 150 scholars apart from the faculty, staff and team of MAAC attended NSM event. NSM 2014 saw interactive sessions on ‘VFX Technical & Showcase’, ‘Making of Chatur Chetan’, ‘TVC Film Making’, ‘Animation’, and ‘VFX in Feature Films’ by eminent personalities such as Mr. Madhusudhanan, National Award winning VFX Supervisor, Mr. Kaizar Mandal & Team, Creative Director, Dreams Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Vaibhav More, Independent Film Maker & Founder, Vaibhav More Films, Mr. Suresh EC, Director-Animations, Aisthis Media Creations and Mr. Viral Thakkar, Computer Graphics Head (Films), Pixion respectively.
Nevertheless, the ‘Showstopper’ of the event was the ‘Scene set up with Miniatures ‘Workshop conducted by the R&D team of MAAC. This workshop centered on the study of modeling, texturing, lighting and special effects which are the most significant functions in the Animation and VFX production pipeline. Scholars were made to create a whole miniature model in 3 hours with the assist of the team and the output was extraordinary. This time, the workshop was a main crowd puller at the National Students Meet 2014.

Phenakistoscope (1831) A phenakistoscope disc by Eadweard Muybridge (1893).The phenakistoscope was an early animation device. It was invented in 1831 simultaneously by the Belgian Joseph Plateau and the Austrian Simon von Stampfer. It consists of a disk with a series of images, drawn on radii evenly spaced around the center of the disk. Slots are cut out of the disk on the same radii as the drawings, but at a different distance from the center. The device would be placed in front of a mirror and spun. As the phenakistoscope is spun, a viewer would look through the slots at the reflection of the drawings which would only become visible when a slot passes by the viewer's eye. This created the illusion of animation.
