Grandly inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Speaking on this occasion he said that Karnatakas Animation, Visual effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) policy has been among the most forward-looking in the country with the aim of ensuring maximum growth for this sector in Bangalore

He has also mentioned that Karnataka government is keen to work towards cultivating the industry by encouraging skill-building and new programs  through more media conclaves to understand industry concerns and devise successful and policies which lead to development for the future. He also assured the industrialists and media professionals that Karnataka will provide an enabling environment for this ecosystem by enhancing the digitally empowered medium to its fullest

The report also states that in 2013, Tamil and Telugu films together accounted for almost 90pc of the revenue, with the rest being equally contributed by Kerala and Karnataka. While enabling regional media players to reach their target audience, the industry continues to attract national players to explore this growing South market. The market is dominated by television (56 Percent), followed by print (28 Percent) and films (11 Percent). Sectors such as New Media and Radio, though smaller than other mediums, are expected to grow a higher rate.

The report mentions the television industry in South India at Rs 13,470 crore, accounting for the largest share of the overall sector at 56 per cent and projected to grow at a CAGR of 20 per cent in the next four years.

The report titled Media & Entertainment in South India — the Digital March said Tamil Nadu constitutes over one-third of the South Indian media and entertainment industry and is expected to grow at a slightly higher rate than the neighbouring States with regard to all four platforms — TV, print, radio and new media.

Renowned actor Kamal Haasan, Chairman of  the Media and Entertainment Business Conclave, called for better tax incentives for cinema, especially animation sector, easier clearances for shooting in cities, more co-production treaties with cinema-centric countries, focused training schemes for the sector in Five Year Plans, and more public-private partnerships to fund quality films.

For our films to make the changeover we need much better and stronger scripts and more institutes which teach writing for the movies as an area of specialization. He also mentioned that the nations youth lacks training in order to become cinema professionals in the truest sense, He has also recommended and encouraged academicians for developing vocational skills program for film making to enhance the quality of Indian Cinema.
