Animation Festival Entry Fee: “Student Competition” $25 and “Young Directors Competition” $50
All entries must be uploaded (www.miaanimation.com) by September 15th, 2015 (22:00 UTC/GMT). Only finished works will be considered for inclusion, and all submissions must be uploaded at final resolution. Confirmation of selected works will be announced no later than October 1st, 2015 and all selected entrants will be notified via e-mail.
SELECTION
Each entry is considered for the Official Competition works will be judged within their category for conceptual, technical and aesthetic innovation and excellence. All members of the jury will be closed connected with the art animation. Productions produced or directed by members of the jury are not eligible to enter in the categories of the Official Competition. The decisions of the jury are final. The juries have the right to withhold an award in any category where no entries, in the jury’s view, meet its standards recognition.
STUDENT COMPETITION – BEST STUDENT PROJECT
Film submissions produced and directed entirely by students. The competition will focus on technical skills, storytelling and creativity. Students can submit individually or in groups.
To qualify, MIA ANIMATION Festival accepts submissions on the following categories:
- Computer Animation, computer-generated imagery and/or digital production. This includes independent shorts, character animation, sponsored creative explorations, narrative and experimental works, opening sequences, game cinematics, selections and/or montages of animated television series, and new-media formats. Selections and/or montages of computer animation created for animated feature films.
- Visualizations and Simulations. Computer animations created to explain, analyze, or visualize information for applications including scientific research, architecture, engineering, systems simulations, education, and documentary projects.
- Miscellaneous. Computer animations that do not fit in any of the above categories, including technology showcases, previz, and other cool stuff that hasn’t been invented yet.
AWARDS
On the night of the MIA ANIMATION festival, the Festival Jury will present the “Best Student Project Award”
- Winner of the “Student Competition” will receive an InkTip Script Listing: A listing of your script on InkTip so that producers and reps can find you.
- MIA ANIMATION, LLC will screen and market the winner’s movie/animation in events, special screenings, on its website and social media for the period of one year.
- WPBT2 will broadcast winner’s movie during its programming in 2016.
