The new unveiled short movie named The Radiator Springs 500 1/2 and will commence officially a new sequence of Pixar short movies similar to Disney's short film collection of "Mater's Tall Tales". The whole cast of voices from the movies, including Owen Wilson, is back for this six minute short, which will premiere later this spring exclusively on Disney Movies Anywhere service, which can be used on your PC, iPhone, or iPad. Seemingly, work on the second short in the series is already underway and it is scheduled to arrive in 2015. The gang is enjoying a Founders Day festivity to honor the late Stanley when a gang of Baja racers goes down on the town and challenge Lightning to a race. It has been directed by Rob Gibbs and Scott Morse.

Phenakistoscope (1831) A phenakistoscope disc by Eadweard Muybridge (1893).The phenakistoscope was an early animation device. It was invented in 1831 simultaneously by the Belgian Joseph Plateau and the Austrian Simon von Stampfer. It consists of a disk with a series of images, drawn on radii evenly spaced around the center of the disk. Slots are cut out of the disk on the same radii as the drawings, but at a different distance from the center. The device would be placed in front of a mirror and spun. As the phenakistoscope is spun, a viewer would look through the slots at the reflection of the drawings which would only become visible when a slot passes by the viewer's eye. This created the illusion of animation.
