The world’s most important animation festival announces its 2017 lineup
Illumination’s “Despicable Me 3,” China, Disney-Pixar’s “Coco” and “The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales” look set to figure among highlights at June’s 2017 edition of France’s thriving Annecy Intl. Animation Film Festival, a Mecca for animation companies and creatives from Hollywood and the world over.
In one sign of still-continued growth at Annecy, its International Animation Film Market (MIFA) will add an extra day, moving from three to four. Attendance at MIFA has grown year-on-year for the past decade, rating the film and TV market, which rolls off the dynamism of the international animation scene, as one of the fastest growing industry events in Europe.

It’s up to 12 people, split up into four different categories, the jury members for the Annecy International Animation Film Festival will have the delicate task of bestowing the 17 official awards at Annecy 2017.
This year, the jury members are:
For the feature film category:
- Céline Sciamma, Director, France
President - Mohammed Beyoud, Artistic Director of the Meknès International Animation Film Festival (FICAM), Morocco
- Stephan Roelants, Producer, Belgium
For the short film category:
- Fred Seibert, Producer, USA
President - Alberto Vázquez, Animation Director, Artistic Director and Graphic Novelist, Spain
For the graduation film and Off-Limits short film category:
- Philippe Caza, Illustrator, France
President - Jean-Baptiste Garnero, In charge of research and the promotion of film collections, CNC, France
- Chao Wu, Artist, China
For the TV and commissioned film category:
- Anna Serner, CEO, Swedish Film Institute, Sweden
President - Ying Huang, Animation Director and Associate Professor, China
- Thomas Meyer-Hermann, Animation Professor, Director and Producer, Germany
