The LEGO Movie Review

February 20th, 2014
“The LEGO Movie,” is the full length, first ever theatrical LEGO adventure, directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, and it was opened in theaters February 7, 2014. It is an American computer animated family comedy and it is based on the Lego line of construction toys. The LEGO Movie animated story follows Emmet (Chris Pratt) an ordinary, rules- following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is erroneously recognized as the most sinful person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
In this movie, visuals are spectacular and the 3D technology is artfully utilized and the story is jam-packed with so many funny lines, it is difficult to catch all the jokes that are delivered in rapid-fire succession constantly tweaking many popular culture icons. The film’s animation style is purposely simplistic and jerky.
